Akok is a popular kueh originating from the east coast of Malaysia. Traditionally, akok are cooked in moulds over hot coals or coconut husks. This helps to retain its soft creamy centre. Eggs and coconut milk are the main ingredients for this kueh so it does have a rich custard taste. Although plain akoks are most commonly found, they do come in an assortment of flavours like coconut and pandan.
