Cakoi or Youtiao is a long golden deep fried strip of dough - is a favorite local breakfast in Malaysia. Originating from China, it is a common breakfast for Chinese in Malaysia.
A ‘halal’ version made by Malay muslim has a lesser dense, less fluffy and bit small in size. It also come with a pandan/kaya dip sauce. I prefer the authentic version which is lighter and fluffier.
Get them hot and fresh at your local pasar malam or nearby stalls.
Since its a common food for Malaysian, a giant fast food chain also sells this on their breakfast menu at RM 2.50 per piece!
